Karolinska Institutet och IBM sluter avtal om samarbete inom bioteknologisk forskning

IBM and Karolinska Institutet (KI), one of Europe’s largest medicaluniversities, today announced an agreement to cooperate on the use of IBM technology for biomedical research.

IBM will provide advanced computing technologies, services and IT experience to support KI research and development projects in clinical genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and genetic epidemiology.

Through the agreement, IBM and KI will also explore joint research
collaborations. Pilot projects have already begun, including development
of a Biobank, which will contain data collected from healthy and diseased
tissue samples that researchers can use to understand the origins and
cellular and molecular mechanisms of various diseases. IBM and Karolinska
Institutet also are collaborating on a research project to identify
protein interactions associated with kidney-related diseases such as
diabetes.
